About Southern Youth and Family Services

All funds donated or raised from Run Wollongong will help fund the ongoing support and delivery of SYFS Education, Employment and Training (EET programs) and improve the quality of life and wellbeing of our young people and their families. While SYFS as a registered charity is largely government funded, the majority of these vital EET programs remain unfunded.

These programs focus on assisting vulnerable young people in the areas of:
  • Employment Skills
  • Personal Development
  • Selecting Training Courses and Applications
  • Educational Support
From July 2024 to June 2025 140 young people exited SYFS EET programs with:

  • 39% of those exiting receiving accredited training
  • 62% of those exiting accessing a registered training organisation
  • 22% of those exiting continuing, returning to or commencing Employment
  • 36% of those exiting continuing, returning to or commencing Education
  • 94% of those exiting continuing, returning to or commencing Training
  • 70% exiting with a degree of Employability Skill
